The Fishing Boat's Last Berth
When I sailed around in Latvia, one day we landed outside a boatyard that, among other things, was engaged in scrapping old fishing boats. Even though the Baltic Sea is an overfished sea, it's still a bit melancholic to see how the old boats decay.
As I stood amid the weathered planks, plants, and rust, my thoughts went to those who once spent their days and nights here – What do they think about their old boat, do they miss it, or was it just a relief to step ashore? Left behind was only the seagull, "the sailor" who never left the deck but found its final rest there...
